The poets of the Muslim spain compare the river Genil with thousand of Niles. This river refuged the symbol of Andlusian's bravity and pride.Genil was always in the search of such bold people who had only one city(The Granada) left for them yet the whole Europe had to prepare themselves for nearly 200 years to conquer it.Musa bin abi ghassan was the general in chief of these fearless and courageous people. Under the orders of Abul Hassan the second last emperor of Andlus Musa lead a number of expeditions to free his homeland from the invasive force of Reconquista. He might had defeated the christians if Abul Hassan had not died in 1491A.D . But after the succession of his son Abu Abdullah all was in a vain and Musa had no option how to spare the once magnificient empire from taking its last breath.
When in 1492 Abu abdullah sold the once most advanced and civilized land in whole europe for a piece of treaty musa decided not to surrender. When the christians had reached to the foot of alhamra the granada and Abu Abdullah had decided to surrender, musa rejected to retreat. He was looking beyond the fragile terms of the famous treaty signed between Abu Abdullah and Fernando.
One bright morning Musa left the palace alone on his arabian horse.Walking through the corridors of Alhamra the galloping sound of his horse's hoofs echoed through the walls of palace, piercing tbrough the deadly silence that prevailed on the palace once thronged with the monarches of euorpean emperors. The chilling winds from the icy tops of mountain Shaleer striked to the walls and gates of Alhamra so forcefully that the decorated curtains of royal palace begun to shake violently. But the sad scholars of mosques and incognizan aristocrats remained unaware that the Musa is alone on the way to martyrdom.
In front of Babul Sultan (the emperor's gate) a christian batallion of 18 knights was on patrol. The swords striked like lightning bolts. The death testified the bravity of General, the horse had his legs cut still the sword was cutting, Musa had his feet paralyzed still he remained high on the ground supported by his knees and still his sword did'nt lose its strength. At last waves came forward and te Genil refuged "The last sword of Andalus" in its Lap of Love.
But before this the Babul Sultan (the emperor's gate) had seen the the shine of Musa's sword and the 15 knights getting rid of the weight of their heads.
In front of Babul Baera there is a little mosque bearing a big board written"Here is the place where Abu Abdullah handed the keys of Granada to Ferdinand"...!
The lost Land you were the sign of Muslim's height,
Alas! Your remains remind us that glorious sight

ReplyDeleteBadar Bin Mughira was not fictious. He was a real person- some of the story scenarios in Nasim Hijazi novel are fictious like the Rabia thing but the commander of a small group who tried to defend his land existed.

ReplyDeleteBadar bin mughaira is a fictional character created by Naseem Hijazi but its true that some of the remaining soliders of Granada army hid in the tracherous mountains of Sierra Nevada and continued their resistance for upcoming 50 years.
